Hi! My name is Joel Voss and I'm blessed to serve St. Paul's (Platteville) & Faith (Lancaster) Lutheran churches. Here's a little bit about me:
I'm the second in line of four boys. I grew up the son of a pastor in Williamston, MI. My high school years were spent at MLS, a preparatory school in Saginaw, MI (where I met my wife, Lauren). After graduating from MLS in 2004, I attended Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN to study for the pastoral ministry. In 2008 I graduated from MLC and went on to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI, from 2008 until graduation in 2012. During the 2010-2011 school year my pastoral training included serving as an intern (vicar) at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Janesville, WI, where I was able to experience many different aspects of ministry.
My wife, Lauren, and I married in 2009, a year after she graduated from Hope College in Holland, MI. The Lord has blessed us with three children so far: Gabriella, Julian, and Quinton.
From 2012-2014 I was assigned to return to Saginaw and serve as dorm pastor at MLS. There I had the privelege of preaching, counseling, teaching, and coaching football. Following another assignment in May, 2014, my family and I arrived in Platteville in July of that year to serve the Lord at St. Paul's and Faith.
I enjoy trying new things, but my main interest is sports and being active. In high school, I played a variety of sports and continued to play football in college.
I am excited for the opportunities to serve in Platteville. I look forward to meeting you and sharing the good news of our Savior, Jesus!
